Book 1 of the USA Today bestselling series

"Our baby died on prom night, and nothing was ever the same again."

Corabelle doesn't feel like any of the other college girls. On what should have been one of the happiest nights of her life, she and her boyfriend Gavin watched a nurse disconnect the ventilator from their seven-day-old baby. During the funeral two days later, Gavin walked out and never returned.

Since then, her life has been a spiral of disasters. The only thing that has helped is her ability to black out whenever the pain gets too hard to bear, a habit that has become an addiction.

When Gavin shows up in her astronomy class four years later, he is hell-bent on getting her back, insisting she forgive him. Corabelle knows she can't resist the touch that fills the empty ache that has haunted her since he left. But if he learns what she has done, if he follows the trail back through her past, her secrets will destroy their love completely. And once again, she'll lose the only person who always believed she was innocent.

Forever Innocent The Forever Series Book 1 eBook Deanna Roy

While I knew that the loss of a young couples baby would be a heartbreaking story to tell, I guess I wasn't prepared for the relentless sadness throughout the book.

For me, the only uplifting aspects of the book were the childhood friendship of Corabelle and Gavin, and the relationship with Jenny who really cared for her friend Corabelle.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!

While I could sympathize, a bit, with an, overwrought,18 year old boy running away from reality after Finn's funeral, I couldn't forgive Gavin for immediately blaming Corabelle for Finn's death when she tells him about smoking pot in the early weeks of her pregnancy. In fact, that just seemed a convenient device, by the writer, to set up the subsequent drowning attempt and rescue which brought an abrupt close to the story. The future of our H/h is left uncertain unless you choose to buy the sequel.

I would rate this 2 1/2 stars and do not plan on buying the sequel. I felt the readers deserved to have a happier conclusion in this book after all the heartache we endured on behalf of this couple and their precious Finn.

Forever Innocent The Forever Series Book 1 eBook Deanna Roy Reviews

This is truly a different type of love story. It is absolutely one of the most moving stories I have ever read. Corabelle and Gavin's story is one that many families have gone through and everyone reacts differently. Losing a child is a difficult process to go through when you have all the support, but having to go through it as teenagers and Gavin, not having the best home situation to begin with, makes this an emotional roller coaster.

Once you start reading this book, you will want to read the entire series. It pulls you in and doesn't let you go. Praise to Deanna Roy for writing a personal story that touches subjects that most would never dream of writing. Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading many more of her books in the future!!
This book is beautifully written. I knew that the subject was going to be emotional, I just didn't know how powerful or how believable and gut wrenching it would be. I loved it.

I have to say that I was really moved by this story. Corabelle and Gavin were high school sweethearts/lovers, they knew each other for a long time, but their sexual relationship doesn't start until their late teens. Just before high school graduation, Corabelle's and Gavin's world is changed by a teen pregnancy and by the premature death of their baby; an event that scars them for life. Devastated by the death of their baby, Gavin takes off (and is never seen again) and Corabelle turns into a shell of her former self. Fast forward 4 years later and they run into each other at college in an astronomy class.

The feelings are there, but they have emotional baggage (anger, pain, love, hate, hurt) to deal with and overcome.

This is an emotional book and yes it is romantic too. It is told in alternating points of view so we get to read both their thoughts.

Overall, I was totally captivated by this story. Though it doesn't have a cliffy per say, it does end rather abruptly. If you are invested in these characters, like I was, you will definitely want to read what happens with these characters in the second book and see if they can overcome their pain and have a hell of HEA. I hope so anyway.
I will start by saying that this is the first book of this author I have ever read. I downloaded it after seeing the cover. I don't bother with synopsis before downloading a book because I don't like spoilers. I went into the story completely blind and not knowing what it was about. Right from the start I was captivated by the characters and the plot of the story. It is not your usual boy meets girl and loses girl. The story was very compelling and I couldn't put the book down. I had to know what happened next. There were parts of the story that by heart broke for these characters. You know this is a well written story when you feel a pang in your heart and are so engrossed in the story you can't believe you have been reading for hours. Chapters 33-34 where so real and heartbreaking. I love the writing style of the author and will definitely look for her other books. Already recommended this book to my cousin and will do so to anyone who enjoys a good and real story.
I was so caught up in this book, that I... yes me, the over the top, over protective mom... totally forgot that I had to feed my kids dinner. They almost went from after school snack right to bed. Can you tell I was wrapped up in the story. To say it was emotional is an understatement. Definitely a roller coaster of emotions.

I didn't have tears. I didn't even cry. Nope, I actually had to put my aside and actually had a body shaking full on sob. My heart just broke for Corabelle and Gavin. I couldn't imagine going on with life after losing a baby like that. Seeing it through their eyes was heartbreaking. Although Finn was in their lives for such a short time, he definitely had a HUGE impact.

This book starts 4 years after the absolute worst event in Gavin and Corabelle's life. They both ended up in the same astronomy class at UC San Diego and are thrown into the same group, forcing them to work together. They both tried to get out of it, change their schedule or change groups, but it didn't work, they ended up being in the same group. Both of them came to class broken, neither of them dealing with Finn's death in a healthy way. Being together again, they realize that they can support each other and finally heal. But first, they have a lot to deal with. A lot of mistakes were made and even more secrets kept. Will their relationship be able to survive?
I might be the minority, but really the h who doesn't do anything wrong except lost her baby, has to deal we with the fact that her love (the H) has a sexual encounter with a prostitute or one night stand that results in a child. Because she is from Mexico, she needs his help to stay in the U.S. Really it's like the h has to accept that if she wants to stay with the H.
